Danny Green took up boxing at the late age of 18. Danny won numerous state titles before moving to the AIS to train for the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.
After the 2000 Olympics he was approached by triple world champion Jeff Fenech to turn professional. That he did, and what an impact he has had since!
As they say, the rest is history!
He quickly advanced through the ranks and within 3 years fought for and controversially lost, then won the WBC Super Middleweight World Title. From this Green continued at super middle weight and continued his move up the rankings. In December 2005 the agreement was put in place to fight arch rival and fellow Australian super middle weight Anthony Mundine as a WBA super middle weight world title eliminator. This fight took place in May 2006 and achieved the following records;
Since that momentous fight Danny has beaten European Stipe Dews for the World Championship; been runner-up in the TV Show "Dancing With The Stars"; retired from boxing; made a victorious come back against legendary fighter Roy Jones Jnr; and competed in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Danny continues to support children's charities, be a father and husband and promote ProChoice Safety Gear.
Danny is the reigning World Cruiser Weight Champion and on the look out for top quality opponents in 2010. With his track record, it is unlikely Danny Green will let the grass grow under his feet in his on-going quest for excellence.
